Seller's description

In 1964 Ferrari unveiled the '275' following the huge success of the '250' series - entrusting Pininfarina to design its beautifully aggressive, and now legendary, bodywork.
The new car was also groundbreaking as it was the first road car to feature independent rear suspension (that used a double wishbone and coil-spring set-up that was inspired by the 250LM) and also because it adopted a rear-mounted five-speed transaxle holding both the gearbox and and differential in a single housing, a characteristic that would lead to defining all of Ferrari's following front engined road cars.
The V12 engine was also upgraded to 3.3 litres - producing 280bhp at 7,600rpm in the standard three Weber carburetor arrangement, however a smaller number of customers took the available option of having 300bhp that employed six Weber carburetors.

Indeed, all of the Competizione models built featured six, as well as having an all aluminium-alloy body and customers who intended for their cars to be used on the road could also pay a premium for this lighter shell as well.
The 275 offered here is one of the most important and collectible produced; not only is it a more desirable long-nose variant, but it was indeed ordered new to have both the six carburetors and all-alloy body - being one of the only two RHD cars specified in this arrangement.
We are naturally delighted to offer this very well known and respected car amongst Ferrari enthusiasts to the market. It presents and performs fantastically - as it has been impeccably maintained by its handful of owners - and being an extremely rare and heavily sought after Ferrari it is no doubt a very secure, and potentially lucrative, investment.
