1980 Porsche 911 Turbo

1980 Porsche 911 Turbo

Seller's description

Model History
Porsche was working on a turbocharged 911 since 1972, and already in 1975 it introduced its first production version – type 930. This project was leaded by Ernst Fuhman, the creator of Porsche 917/30 Can-Am. The 3.0 engine was replaced by a new one in 1978.
Porsche then introduced a bigger 3.3 liter turbocharged engine, which outpu was 330 horsepower, and equipped with an intercooler. This new engine solved much of the original turbo lag problem and its intercooler changed the shape of the spoiler, called since tea tray. The new model received also bigger brakes, of the same size as those of 917 model. In 1989, the last year of production Porsche created a 5-speed G50 gearbox for this model. The 3.3 litre engine was continued in the 964 Turbo.
Vehicle History
The 930 Turbo offered at the National Stadium Auction was originally an Italian car, which became a grey import to the United States, then was re-exported back to Europe. Given its American provenance, it was equipped with a speedometer scaled in miles and side markers. Once in Poland, the Porsche was professionally restored. The body received a fresh paint and engine was rebuilt on new parts. This timeless classic 911 is still a very affordable car, especially compared to its younger brothers, 964 and 993 Turbos. The 930 offered by Ardor Auctions is certainly a good investment. Car is registered in Poland as a historic vehicle.
