1973 Porsche 911

Seller's description

FOR SALE; Matching numbers 911 prepared by Maxted Page and Prill with current FiA HTP.
INTRODUCTION
An original matching number 911 2.4S which has been meticulously rebuilt by Maxted Page and Prill Porsche Classics over the last two years and prepared to full motorsport specification with current FIA HTP. This 911 is an excellent road, track and racing car eligible for the halo historic series including the 1000kms, Tour Auto and Modena Cento Ore.
The car comes with the original recently rebuilt matching numbers 2.4 engine and a 315BHP 3.0 litre unit currently installed. For road and track the 3.0 litre unit is supremely quick, highly tractable and saves wear on the original unit. For historic events there is the choice of running the 3.0 litre engine and declaring as such (in exactly the same way as one of the original 36 factory cars currently does) or installing the 2.4 litre unit as per the FiA HTP.
This is a highly useable, versatile and eligible 911 prepared by the very best UK marque specialists to the highest of standards.

EXTERIOR
Finished in a stunning and suitably period Ivory White with black decals, this track inspired S/T specification S is in superb cosmetic order having recently emerged from a comprehensive 2 year restoration by Porsche specialist Maxted Page and Prill. A great deal of love and care has been invested, with particular focus and consideration to race preparation and development, whilst in true S/T spirit retains a suitable balance for the road. As such, the car is as pretty in the flesh as the studio photography suggests with superb panel fit and finish.
Specific to this car is its Group 4 GT spec lightweight bodywork, with flared arches to suit wider Fuchs alloy wheels, ST bumpers and Makrolon windows.
INTERIOR
Considering the broad operating bracket of such an example, the cabin has been sympathetically updated with safety in mind but pleasingly retains its character and originality where possible – dials, switch gear and controls remain untouched finished with a magnificent MOMO prototipo wheel. The Recaro seats, barely used and in excellent order, are equipped with Schroth harnesses whilst the roll cage features removable door bars for easier access to and from the track.
The MSA Historic Passport dictates the Safety enhancements inside, equipped with a full FiA Zero 360 extinguisher system and Lifeline pull switches.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The car is supplied with two engines; the recently rebuilt and original matching numbers unit and a spare bespoke 3.0 powerhouse – currently fitted to the car. The engine in situ was supplied by renowned American Porsche specialist – Supertec Performance of California. The specification is quite stunning, an open cheque book exercise with a 95mm Mahle RSR piston and cylinder set, Micro polished 3.0 knife edge crank and a complete custom MFI system; the end result an impressive 310bhp @ 7,100 rpm.
A Bursch race exhaust header completes this competition special – a perfect promotion of the unmistakable and wholly captivating flat 6 engine note. Exhaust caps are also included according to taste / requirements. Full correspondence, specification and invoicing of the Supertec engine is included in the history file alongside the recent rolling road print out.
The drivetrain has also been treated to a series of no expense spared upgrades – RSR 915 gearbox nose with oil pump and spray bar, rebuilt LSD and a new clutch ensure performance and longevity in equal measure.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The Fuchs wheel design is symbolic amongst classic Porsche variants and although ST’s often ran minilites in period there could only be one choice for the purist. Used extensively in Europe and North America on street and track, these FiA approved Braid Fuchs look every inch the part with suitably upgraded rigidity and strength matched to period Michelin rubber.
The entire braking system has been replaced and upgraded where possible whilst suspension hardware has had similar attention; everything has been removed, stripped, inspected, cleaned and powder coated to as new condition.
HISTORY FILE
The original Fahrzeugbrief confirms this 2.4 S was first registered in Germany on 30th July 1973. The car arrived in the UK in 2006 and remained in continuous ownership with a marque enthusiast / collector until 2013.
