This amazing 1979 Porsche 930 is the ultimate time capsule with only 64 original miles. That’s right, 64 original miles. Kept in a climate controlled garage since new, this car presents in showroom condition. The signs of showroom fresh are everywhere and capture all of your senses: the black exterior paint has the correct Porsche factory applied texture and sheen, there is a rich aroma originating from the full leather interior, the black anodized finish on the window trim and wheel centers is flawless and devoid of any trace of fade or discoloration, the windows are crystal clear, the high ride stance of the car clearly attests to the absence of suspension settlement due to driving and the doors shut with a Teutonic feel of solidity. In 1979, Porsche made the surprising announcement that the 930 Turbo would be absent from the American market effective model year 1980. The year 1979 was a frenzied one for the 930 Turbo with captive buyers paying a hefty premium over sticker price to own what appeared to be the last year example of this great car. Although the 930 Turbo would eventually return to the United States in 1986, it is the early years of the 930 Turbo—model years 1976-1979—that have experienced the highest upswing in the marketplace. The 1979 model year was also the beneficiary of a multitude of improvements implemented in 1978 which included a larger 3.3 liter engine, an intercooler, 917 brakes, and 16-inch wheels. This particular Porsche 930 Turbo presents beautifully in the classic color combination of black on black and has been optioned with the highly desirable factory sports seats, dark center anodized Fuchs alloy wheels and an electric sunroof. This car is an absolute benchmark of originality and comes complete with all factory issued books, tool kit and jack. Collectors will be hard pressed to ever find another 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo with double-digit miles.
