1984 De Tomaso Pantera GT5
Seller's description
One of only six examples built in right hand drive for the UK market this GT5 was supplied when new by De Tomaso dealers Emelia Concessionaires in April 1984 to Sheikh Mohammed Jaber, a well-known London based car enthusiast. He retained the GT5 for a year before selling it to a good friend. The car passed between several owners and specialist dealers as documented on file before ending up in the garage of life long De Tomaso enthusiast Derek Williams in April 2000.
The Pantera appeared to be in good original order however a number of niggling issues and lack of specialist knowledge from local mechanics led Derek to the door of Three Point Four Motors in Barnsley, one of few highly regarded De Tomaso experts in Europe. A full evaluation from proprietor and Pantera guru Roger Brotton revealed the need for a little more than a gentle fettling. The work list steadily grew into what turned out to be an extensive restoration over a ten year period.
The restoration was followed by the De Tomaso Owners Club in a series of eight extensive illustrated articles in the club magazine that reported on progress from start to finish. Extensive invoicing and photographs on file further detail the work completed.
Following completion in 2011 the Pantera has covered just a few thousand dry kilometres allowing for the sorting of any snagging issues. Maintenance has continued with Three Point Four, the last visit being in August 2015.
Needless to say the Pantera is in the most outstanding condition in all respects, most notable is the painstaking detail of the work completed, rarely seen in a car from a low volume Italian manufacturer. On the road it soon becomes clear that the car has been fully sorted and set up by specialists who know, everything working as it should.
An extensive history comes with the car documenting its life from new.
